Fasting Schedule and Prayer Times
Theme for the Month: STEADFAST IN THE FAITH
Main scriptures: 1 Peter 5:6-10, 1 Corinthians 15:58
Prayer
There will be a different focus of prayer in each of the 1st four full weeks of the month. They are as follows:
1st week (Jan. 1-7) – Pray for WISDOM IN DECISION-MAKING (James 1:5)
2nd week (Jan. 8-14) – Pray for DELIVERANCE FROM DISTRACTIONS (St. John 17:15)
3rd week (Jan. 15-21) – Pray for DIVINE INCREASE (1 Chronicles 4:10 – “… Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast…”)
4th week (Jan. 22-28) – Pray for HOLISTIC HEALTH (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
Jan. 29-31 – Personal requests (Philippians 4:6)
– We will continue with the Intercessory Prayer conference calls on Mondays at 7 pm.
– There will also be corporate / group prayer sessions at the church as follows:
o Saturday, January 7th at 10 am – Men
o Saturday, January 14th at 10 am – Women
o Saturday, January 21st at 10 am – Youth
Note: Those that belong to 2 groups may choose to attend either session or both. However, all youth are encouraged to attend the youth prayer session.
Fasting
There will be a total of 14 days of fasting spread throughout the month. They will be as follows:
Jan. 3rd, 4th, and 5th
Jan. 10th, 11th, and 12th
Jan. 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th
Jan. 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th
– The fast will involve one meal per day on each of these days. The meal can be eaten after 4 pm.
– The fast will not involve weekends.
– The following foods are NOT to be eaten as part of the meal on fast days: foods that are fried; breads; sweets / desserts; Also, beverages should be limited to water, unsweetened tea, and fruit juice. You may hydrate yourself as needed during the day with these beverages.
– All saints are asked to follow guidelines / instructions set by your medical provider! Please continue all prescribed medications. If you are on medications required to be taken with food, please do so as directed while adhering to the restrictions of the fast.
